Paranoid Not I

I Don't want to come off as Paranoid but can anyone who doesn't live in Indianapolis tell me they thought the Refs did a good job last sunday?

Tom Curran of NBC Sports has written a very interesting article about last sundays game.

"Head referee John Parry’s crew was beyond bad in the Patriots 24-20 win. New England had a franchise record 10 penalties for 146 yards. And it wasn’t just the calls but the non-calls as well.

I counted eight blatant mistakes that went against New England (I’m not counting the pregame coin flip Parry had to do twice because he dropped the coin) each of differing severity."

1. Two officials with an unimpeded view of the play rule Colts receiver Aaron Moorehead in bounds on a first-quarter reception even though his left foot landed entirely out of bounds. How do they miss this one? 2 refs not even one and the one that was behind the play was waving his arms for no catch.

2. A neutral zone infraction on the Patriots in the first quarter that gave the Colts a first down on third-and-2. Two Patriots flinched at the same time and readjusted while a Colts offensive lineman jumped. It didn’t appear either got into the neutral zone.

3. Colts' tight end Dallas Clark hauling down Patriots safety Rodney Harrison in the end zone, preventing a chance at an interception. Ok this was Blatant Offensive Pass Interference but was not called.

4. An inadvertent flag on New England for having offensive lineman Russ Hochstein lined up as an eligible receiver despite the fact the announcement was made before the play that Hochstein was eligible.

5. A 40-yard pass interference penalty on Patriots corner Ellis Hobbs despite his picture-perfect coverage against Reggie Wayne. Are you kidding me he was in Perfect position and was looking for the Ball and they still make this terrible call. and give the colts first and goal.

6. A defensive holding (or pass interference) non-call on Colts linebacker Gary Brackett as he covered New England running back Kevin Faulk. This is the one that made everyone sit up seems Both teams are not playing by the same set of rules. Since the Defender has his arm around Faulk and spun him before the ball got there.

7. A phantom offensive pass interference call on Patriots' receiver Randy Moss inside the Colts 10. I would love to hear the Official explain this call since moss never touched the defender

8. A block in the back by Colts wide receiver Moorehead on Patriot Rashad Baker during Joseph Addai’s 73-yard touchdown reception.

I am not going to go on a rant about how the Refs were trying to Job the Patriots and How this game wouldn't have been close if they hadn't.
Maybe one of them had Bet on the Colts and was purposely kept the score down ala Tim Donaghy.
Go ahead and say it couldn't happen that is what the NBA was saying about 6 months ago.

"Finally, we have the fact that the Patriots’ coach-to-quarterback wireless communication went out on the game’s first series and was “a problem from the first series,” according to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Here we have a confluence of suspicions. After the taping scandal, it was noted by some teams (Jacksonville specifically) that, while playing in New England, their coach-to-quarterback communication went out. That added another layer of skepticism to how the Patriots do their business. Now that the Patriots have had their communication jammed in the home stadium of their nemesis the Colts, there’s a question of whether Indy was behind it. Or are the Patriots so full of guile that they’d pretend it was malfunctioning just to cast aspersions on the Colts?"

Then we have the Colts artificially pumping up the Volume which is against league rules,
Do they get fined? do they lose a draft pick? NO. why cause Bill Polian is on the competition committee and that is that.

The good news for the NFL is the Patriots will not win a game this week only because they have a bye. But make no mistake they are going to Run the Table and get rid of the Notion that the Patriots will rest their players the last few weeks.

The Nfl and all the Naysayers have made it personal and the patriots are out to prove that they are the Best of all time. Regardless of what Don Shula wants to think. Hmm you would think the dolphins Never broke the rules. But they Tampered to get shula in the first place and lost their first round pick as a result.

Are you kidding me?

Wow that was a Great game between the 2 best teams in the League. The Patriots were Lucky to scrape out a win against the Colts today.

Not that the Ref's Helped the Patriots at all with some Bad Calls against them.
But a win is a Win and the Patriots go to the Bye at 9-0.

The Colts defense is better than I thought and they should be there at the end to play once more.

Wow look at those scores these are from 2004 when the Peyton manning and the Colts were setting the Touchdown Passing records.
I am curious if anyone was accusing Mr Manning of running up the scores that year, Or complaining of Peyton Manning staying in to throw
a Td while ahead by 4 touchdowns?

Tom Bradys last series against Washington started with 3 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter.
then instead of kicking a field goal they went for it on 4th and 1 thereby giving the redskins a chance to actually stop them instead of
putting up 3 more easy points.

Matt cassell the Backup QB ran 15 yards for a touchdown,
kyle eckell the 3rd or 4th string Runningback scored a 4th Quarter touchdown. these were not the starters as a matter of fact that last touchdown happened when the 3rd string QB was in the game.

thats the 2nd and 3rd string QB's and Rb's scoring not the starters.

NFL coaches interviewed on Sirius NFL Radio in recent days have commented on scoring points with big leads. Here are some of their comments, courtesy of Sirius' media relations department:

#1 John Fox, Carolina Panthers: “Typically in this league when you have the game in hand you do call off the dogs a little bit but not to the point where you could lose the game. You never can relax too much.”

#2 Jack Del Rio, Jacksonville Jaguars: “You play to win. If you can score, score. Your job, as a defense, as an opponent, is to slow them down. Offensively you want to score. Obviously, late in the fourth quarter you’re going to make sure your starters don’t get hurt and things like that going forward but you still keep playing football.”

# 3 Herm Edwards, Kansas City Chiefs: “I just think that obviously [the Patriots] are going at a pace right now, they’re just playing. They’re having fun playing football. You’re caught in a bad situation there when you have a lead like that. All coaches have been in that situation. Sometimes you’ve been the guy that had the lead and sometimes you’ve been the guy on the other side of it. And that’s what’s great about athletics. People always look into things, trying to figure out is there something that he’s trying to do or say. The coach that is winning, does he run the ball on fourth down or does he pass the ball on fourth down? I don’t know what to tell you. It’s just one of those deals. There’s a lot being made out of things and at the end I think the thing you’ve got to realize is this. You’ve got a team that is playing very very good, setting all kinds of record. When I watch those guys play, they’re having fun. They’re just having fun playing football.”

# 4 Brad Childress, Minnesota Vikings: “You’re talking about the Washington Redskins and one of the highest paid coaches in the National Football League and a staff full of head coaches and they’re coaching, too. Games can get left-handed like that, unfortunately, and New England has a way of making you be left-handed.”

# 5 Lane Kiffin, Oakland Raiders: “Coach Gibbs, I believe, said he had no issues with it. It’s so hard to win and so hard to score I don’t think that there really is running up the score. You’re just playing your players and trying to get better. In this league your backups do have so few opportunities to play that, from my perspective, if we were ever in that situation we would definitely run plays and put in some of our younger guys that otherwise don’t play.”

# 6 Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers: “We’re responsible for keeping their score down. They aren’t. That’s just being competitive. That’s what this game is about. That’s what any game is about. I have no comment or opposition to them ringing up as many points as they’re capable of.”

I guess the patriots are the new team to hate.

Am I a Homer? Maybe but everyone wants to jump on and make an excuse for why the Patriots are winning.
How about they are fucking good. Better than almost every team by a wide margin.

Congrats to the Colts!

What can I say? I am very Disappointed that the Patriots couldn't hold on and win.
They lost way too many players on the defensive side and Indy took advantage like a Great team will.

I wonder why in the 4th Quarter the Pats didn't run the ball to run the clock?

Guess we will have to wait till next year to win another Super Bowl. The Colts played great to get there and so did the Bears. Hopefully it will be a good Game.

Thank god that pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks.

Championship Sunday.

Thank god the day is finally here. Championship Sunday when dreams are made and some are crushed. lots of interesting storys abound. Can the New Orleans Saints Make it to their first SuperBowl ever? Can DA BEARS return for the first time in 20 years???? Can Peyton Manning
Finally get over the hump? and Last but not least Can Tom Brady and the New England Patriots
make it back to their 4th Superbowl in 6 years??????

I Just finished making my Bets for the games and with the help of Garthski, I went with
a Parlay of saints +2 1/2 and the Patriots money line for a wager of Risk $31.27 to win $127.46.

I think the Saints will be able to score on the bears Just too many weapons for the Banged up Bears to overcome.

The Colts/Patriots game is more interesting. All the Pundits are picking the colts but all they ever say is that it is Peytons Year. How about backing up thier statement with facts.
I say the #2 defense for the patriots gets the job done and slows down the colts enough to
Make Indy come from behind. The Patriots Offense is the best the colts have seen in the playoffs and will be able to score some points and make the colts deviate from their plans, and that is when Peyton will make a mistake.
